Our Story
Save Our Heritage (SOH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting, and celebrating the historic places that tell the story of Chase City, Virginia. Our mission is to ensure that the landmarks, stories, and traditions that shaped our community are not lost to time. Through restoration, education, and community engagement, we work to preserve Chase City's historic treasures so future generations can learn from and enjoy them.

Today, our efforts focus on two of Chase City's historic properties: the Mecca Theatre and the Southside Roller Mill. These landmarks represent important chapters in our town's cultural, agricultural, and economic history. By preserving them, we are preserving the stories of the people who built our community.
We believe historic preservation is more than saving old buildings. It is about strengthening community pride, creating educational opportunities, supporting heritage tourism, and ensuring that future generations can experience the places that make Chase City unique.
Whether through volunteering, attending events, making donations, or sharing our story, community support makes this work possible. Together, we can protect Chase City's heritage and keep its history alive for generations to come.

Once the heart of downtown Chase City’s entertainment, the Mecca Theater opened in the 1930s and brought movies, music, and community together for decades. Save Our Heritage is working to restore this beloved landmark and bring it back to life as a gathering place for future generations.
South-Side Roller Mill
South-Side Roller Mill
Built in the early 20th century, the South-Side Roller Mill once played a vital role in Chase City’s agricultural community. From grinding grain to serving as a hub for local farmers, it stands today as a rare piece of industrial history. Save Our Heritage is dedicated to preserving the mill so future generations can experience this important part of our town’s story.
